I have a 10 gal planted setup. Right now most of the fish in there like to nibble on the plants. Nothing to bad yet, but I know it will get worse with time. Right now I have 2 unknown cichlids (possablely mbuna, witch will be sold to the LFS shortly) a juvenile angel, 2 dwarf gouramies, 2 SAE, and a couple of dwarf frogs. Would the gouramies be ok to keep in here? What would be the best type of fish to keep in a tank setup like this? It has soft water and ph is 7.0. I know that the angel cant stay in this tank much longer, and I was told that the gouramies were full grown and they dont seem to bother the plants at all. I keep everyones belly full with brine shrimp, bloodworms, and flake food!

Any ideas/sugestions would be great.:)

The gouramis would be great. The SAE's will eventually outgrow the tank also, but they will be fine for now. Same for the angel. You may consider a loach or two, or maybe some cories. Some Amano shrimp would be great, and maybe 3 oto-cats. Whatever you choose, sounds like they're eating well!

Would the loach's uproot my plants? By what I have seen in the LFS they like to burry and hide under things. I forgot to mention that I also have 5 ghost shrimp in the tank. Are these anything close to amano shrimp?

I think your tank is if not full a tiny bit over stocked. Maybe you should get the angel out now and put in some corys. SAE's tend to get quite large and are not suited for smal fully stocked tanks. But if you like to keep them til they get big its up to you but I tend to get attached to fish really fast. And are you sure your frogs are eating? There seems to be a lot of compition in that tank for food and those frogs are almost blind and have a hard time even finding food thats right in front of their face. I think they should be in a tank by them selfs or with only a couple of top feeders. Thats my opinion though not trying to rag on ya.

np, I understand. I feed the frogs bloodworms, and before I feed them I put a mix of frozen brine shrimp and flakes in for the fish. While they are distracted I put the blood worms in using a turkey baster so I can put them right on the bottom in front of the frogs. If there full little bellies are a good sign then I would say they are getting plenty to eat! :)

BTW- I put the SAE's in to counter a small alge problem, oto's eat alge like crazy too dont they.

I dont think that my LFS carries otos. I know I have seen them at petsmart, but that is almost an hour and a half away. Im not sure if there would be any problem transporting them that far, but I dont think that there would be. I'll check the LFS, if they dont have them in stock they can order some in for me. Thanks agian.

Something I have been pondering is what my LFS calls a butterfly fish. These are beutiful surface dwellers that are black and gold in color with long fins. I have heard and read in a few places that they can be aggressive. Any one ever keep any of these? I am going to move my frogs out of the tank into there own 5 gal setup, move the angel and leave the two gouramis if I can.
