10gal lighting ?

heya all,

I am fairly new to SW and have a a few questions!

Here is my setup.

10gal w/modded stock hood
2xlights-Coralife - 20 Watt
Penguin 150 filter
Rio 400 Powerhead
15 pounds of LR
1 cleaner shrimp
2 turbo snails
1 sally lightfoot crab and 2 small hermits


Ok now to the questions!

1. with my current setup will it support any corals?

2. If not what can i do to start my way to adding some corals?

Any help would be great!

I wish i could give you some helpful answers but im not experienced in the saltwater area, but what i can do is give you a link to one of the threads. It's a bit long but VERY helpful. Hello and welcome to mft.net!

To answer your question, with those lights you should be able to keep quite a few corals. Some good starters would be mushrooms (Rhodactis and Discosoma [probably not Ricordia]) and zoanthids.

thanks for the link and your input, any others with good advice i could use??

Ohhh 1 more question on water changes. I am currently doing 20% changes every week with Nature's Ocean - Nutri Sea Water and topping off with clean unsalted RO water.

Ive read that you can use distilled water instead of Ro water to top your tank? is this true?
