Grr.... I hate when people recomend shellys. I CANT GET THEM... I want some so bad. Oh well.

Stupid lfs here has never heard of them. and the one that can get them wants like $30 for one.

But if you can get some go for it man. I hear they rock.

would rams get along will shell dwellers???
i agree with soulfish on this, as the shellies a much more aggressive than a ram....period.

i am NOT a purist for bio-types though, and i dont see any real problems with mixing fish from different bio-types....clean water is the key, not necessarilly bio-type correct ph water.

this does have its limits though, as you obviously wouldnt want to mix a black-water species like some checkerboard cichlids with shellies

black water ph of maybe 5
rift lake ph of maybe up to 9

green terrors, which are south american mix well with many of the central american species, even though they are from different geographic locations--you just have to use some common sense.

i used to be a purist until i had my lake tang community, which had me climbing the walls in anxiety trying to keep my aggression levels down.

there is nothing wrong with keeping the lakes pure if it floats your boat, but i personally dont care about it too much anymore.
