I am planning on getting a 15 gallon tank for my cherry shrimp because I am starting to get a few babies now. The 5.5 gallon tank they are in now is overrun with snails, and I'm not sure how I am going to get rid of them. Are there any snail-eating fish that won't eat the cherry shrimp? I read that yo-yo loaches would eat the shrimp, so thats a no-go :(

Also, would the 15 gallon need a hood? I haven't been able to find one yet, but I'll have to find out the exact dimensions of the tank first. In the 5.5 gallon I just have a small sponge filter, would this be ok for the 15 gallon, or would I need something more?

I am trying to breed the cherry shrimp to eventually sell them around here :)

I think you'd be fine with a sponge filter, as long as you aren't having fish in there. You might want to get a larger sponge or a larger airpump if yours are underpowered.

It's probably better just to try to manually remove the snails, and avoid overfeeding if you want to get the snails under control.

Well, I just picked at least 100 baby snails out of my shrimp tank! They are sitting in a cup on the counter because I don't know what to do with them. If anyone wants them, I've got two adults and at least 100 babies. If you feed them enough, the babies will be ready to breed in no time. So if anyone has puffers, these would be perfect to start a breeding colony :)

BTW, I've got baby shrimp!!!!!! I saw a few little ones today, which only brings me to about 8 shrimp total, but hey, I'm just getting started :)

Edit: OK, maybe theres not 100 but theres at least 50!
