lionfish question

We just bought our first lionfish yesterday. He is the reason we wanted a saltwater tank. This morning I notice that his belly is swollen and the skin is white. He is a volitian.
At first I was wondering if this could be a sickness. After reading positings on this site and seeing that damsels were a good idea for a live food for the lion, I noticed that one of our damsels is missing (or hopefully hiding really well). Could this simply be a full belly on the lionfish? it is very odd looking.

Well, to start with the lion is probably a little stressed from the trip. The swollen belly could be an indication that he ate your damsel. Also when he gets big (8-12inches long) most fish will not be compatible with it.

The damsel has probably been eaten. You should feed your lionfish 2 times a week. Squid, shrimp, krill, damsels, mysis are all good foods. Do not feed Feeders! They do not contain amino acids marine fish need to help break down waste in the liver.
