actually it is not......you can run them on an alternating timer such as the following and it will create random wave action flow which if you have corals they will love....as will your fish. I have this running 2 Maxijet 1200 on my 29g bowfront and it works like a dream
Wouldn't they stir up the sand too much? I have two Koralia 3's in my 72, and even in that size tank I still have to adjust one of them occasionally to stop the sand from being pushed around.
depends on your rock placement, with 2 1200 on a wavemaker only one is on at a time and it isn't too much....I have a dsb and it doesn't move the sand at all.
How do you point them? Maybe I have mine positioned wrong.... They are both set up near the top... one directs flow across the surface, and the other points at about a 45' angle downwards.
You could try to point them at each other at each end of the tank. It will help create turbulence in the tank, but still might stir sand. It should settle though.
