Well, ive desided to go along with my plans for a 2.5 pico reef. Im gonna add some corals first, then an invert of my choice. I might not do a mantis this time, but if i find a suitable species for a pico ill do it, but if i dont what would be a good invert? I was thinking something along the lines of a porcelin crab, or a cleaner shrimp.

The main difficulty with keeping Porcelain crabs is meeting their dietary requirements. They are filter feeders so feeding plankton or other foods designed for filter feeding inverts would be best although they will accept meaty foods. You could keep one or if you can find a pair that would work also. A Skunk Cleaner shrimp gets too big for a 2.5g tank in my opinion. You could house a small group of Sexy shrimp in your tank.

One thing that is difficult with Pico tanks apart from maintaining good water quality is finding a inhabitant that can live comfortably in the tank.

i already have a mantis to satisify my morbid curiousity, and no way im gonna pay that ammount for a shrimp. I would love to do a pistol shrimp, but i would rather do a goby and pistol, and 2.5 isnt big enought for any gobies i know of that could pair up with a pistol. sexy shrimp sound like the best bet right now. som one let me know if there are any gobies that could pair with a pistol in a 2.5
