2 dollars a lb live rock is it better than 10$ a lb

I went to one of the local petstores today and they have live rock in some of there tanks the owner is willing to sell it to me for 2 dollars a pound which is alot cheaper than the 10 dollar a lb at the other store Im just wondering if I could use the already used live rock or should I pay the extra money and get the just cured live rock.
like the live rock at the small store isnt alot of rock just its really cheap and its already being used in the store. The owner supposadly catches everything once amonth and thats how she has everything I dont belive her but thats another story. the rock at the expensive gallery store is alot of rock and its being cured. Which is better. the expensive store has a high rep when it comes with saltwater products the cheap place I didnt even know they had saltwater items lol thanks if you respond

the $2 a pound stuff should be just fine...the one thing i would check into is if they use copper or any other medication in their tank. if they have the live rock is not going to be usable

$2 is dirt cheap, almost so cheap I would have to wonder about it....you know the old saying, you get what you pay for.

man..where do you guys live that LR is so cheap and availiable? I cant seem to find any in NYC. I thought NYC had everything! lol.

Im in southeastern Louisiana If your in nyc theres a major pet store in Flushing I dont know exactly where but they sell flowerhorn for like 15 bucks each which for any cichild person knows is dirt cheap. They have a major salt water aquarium collection

You'd better have a hard look at both of them hadn't you. You're only stocking a 10 gallon so you really don't need a ton of the stuff, just two or three decent size decent quality pieces.
If your liverock looks like poor quality breeze blocks then it's going to be tough to make your 10 look good, and then cheap rock doesn't seem such a good idea
