Well while at walmart today buying the "shultz aquatic plant soil" for my up comming planted tank, I thought a few more otos wouldn't hurt. They were $1.66 each!!!!, it's so cheap and they looked healthy this time too so i'm glad for what I bought. So now with a school of 5 otos, they should look great in the planted tank :)

Just thought i'd share :)

I sure do, now from the group of 5 there must be at least a female and a male, so hopefully they could breed when they are adapt to the upcomming planted tank?

I almost bought some otos today, too. I went by Petsmart to see if they had anything I couldn't live without. They had otos for $1.49, so I figured I would get 4 of them and put 3 in one tank, and the other in the other (still following me here?).

I told the girl who was working there what I wanted. She seemed a little put out to actually have to do something, but reluctantly, she got the cart with the nets and bags. A couple of swipes later, she managed to net what must have been the 4 smallest otos in the tank! They had to be between 1/2 and 5/8 inch long. I told her that I needed bigger ones (3 were destined for my Altum angel tank) and she replied that they were all about the same size. I pointed out that there was a lot that were much closer to an inch long.

She sighed, glared at me, and then asked, "So what do you want to do?" I told her I didn't want $6 worth of feeders, so never mind. She dumped the bag back in the tank, wadded up the bag, grabbed the cart, and walked away. I'm not even sure she looked to see if they all made it back to the tank.

Ehh, emplpyees these days they just don't get paid enough for what they do. I'd have to tell ya, it is fustrated catching fish lol... especially fast ones. Maybe you could stop by tommorow and see if you can still get the ones that you wanted.

MrMup-

I know all about catching speedy little buggers. I worked at a LFS for a few months about 15 years ago. My first customer was a little girl who was about a 6 years old who pointed at a particular rainbow shark (out of about 30 in the tank) and said, "I want that one."

It really frustrates me sometimes as I watch some of these exercises in futility, knowing I could do much better. But that's the thing about experience, you have to have some to get some ;)

Sandboxes-

I like the way you think. Perhaps I'll go back tomorrow and have a word with her.
