20,000k light

im getting a 20000k Fluorescent light i think its 15 watt but is that too bright? some say 10000k is good enough.

20000K refers to the color temperature. It's pretty much the color of the light. I couldn't find a chart that went up to 20000K but you can get the idea from this

no but close i like the higher ones because they bring out the coral color thats why i went with 2 attic blues CP and a 10k PC

wow my 20k is great not too blue but a nice white blue.

Was it new? usually the higher the K, the shorter the original intensity lasts, they tend to burn down in blueness after a while. 20K is pretty blue but it isnt that bad, all personal preference.

yeah its new but it only has 15 watts...dont think any coral/reef can live in that kind of light...so its going in my FOWLR tank...

It's going to look quite blue, but not actinic. Bear in mind, watt for watt , a 20K bulb will put out less than a 10K or 6500, a price to pay for the colour rendition

15w is not much light and would be fine for a fowlr......It should bring out the colours of your fish nicely.

i heard that the light brings out the colors of live rock better...but not sure if its the wattage or the kelvins anyone know?

the higher kelvins ring out color. but watts are also important... one watt over a tank wont bring out much color
