Hi, I am so new, I have some questions here.
I bought a 180g tank with wet/dry filter. I have put 20 Cichlids in it several days ago. And, everything looks fine.

But, I want to know if there are too many fish in it? And what is ph level for my tank?. If ph is high, should I just change 15% of water every 3 days? Or Should I use chemical。

Thanks

you cant really change your PH by doing water changes, unless you have somthing in your tank causing it to change like peat or crushed coral or somthing like Cichlid-Man said its best to keep it at a constant (what it comes out of your tap at is a good idea)

i would be more concered what your nitrates, nitrites and ammonia are at then the PH

PH is just how acidic the water... ammonia and nitrates/nitrites are posions in the tank if too much builds up

Electric Blues and Lemon Peels. Most of them are medium size, some are small size. Now the new fish tank is 7 days old.

What is the level range for Nitrates, ammonia and ph?

Thanks

Ok when you say "Lemon Peels" i will assume you are talking about either Yellow Labs or Neolamprologus leleupi. A 180gal is a big tank, i think you are fine with those species (pending "lemon peels" i guess) and those numbers in your tank. Might even have room for one more once you make sure everything is stable and fine.

Did you cycle the tank? Generally you want to shoot for 0ammonia 0 nitrates, and a pH of 7-8 for africans. Your tap water is probably fine.

ok, cichlids in there "home" environment obviously can't work in a tank, they don't make them big enough. If you want a cichlid tank that is not too hostile, then you need to ditch the 10-10 rule. cichlids aren't like other fish and do best when "overcrowded". Other wards they get to territorial and will fight when they reach adulthood. for 180 you will want a lot more than 20 fish. make sure though that they are all about the same adult size, and get them when they are all the same size now (babies are cheaper). 2-3 of each kind, one male to two females so the females aren't bred to death (if they breed). This also gives your males the opportunity to show it's best color. Just be careful to add them at least 2-3 weeks apart and watch your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. your nitrate will tell you if it is cycling correctly. Do you only have one filter? might need more. they breath by top water agitation, or maybe a power head on the other side of the tank. any pics? 180! very envious!

You really need to watch your ammonia and nitrite levels. Since you didn't cycle the tank you might run into problems with your ammonia going up and then later your nitrite. The only way to avoid this is to get your hands on some bio-spira or seachem stability.
