ok.. my male convict is a terror, ive given up on breeding him... he killed 3 females when he was younger... ripped apart a female last week, and drove my new female to jump out of the tank..

ive given up on breeding him he is a terror..

im looking for something now to breed in my 20g..

i want something small for now.. i dont care if it will get to be 7 inches or whatever in a year... that just gives me an excuse to buy a new tank :D .. ive never tried africans before.. thought about brichardi... any ideas ?

a fish store within driving distance has ''small africans'' on sale for $1.99... so maybe i will have to take a drive tomorrow and pray they have brichardi..

ive seen electric yellow breed at work... i guess those are do-able also.... what about ''snow white african cichlids'' those are on sale for $9.... never seen em before :| .... parrot cichlids are on sale for $13 also.. i like them but i dont think i would be able to pick out a female, and have it be compatible with my killer male convict..

i think i will check out the africans tomorrow and see if i can find a pair of something

Ohhhh so the convict is staying in the tank while trying to breed something else? All i offer is a Good Luck. 20gal would be to small for a larger fiesty male con and and breeding pair of something i feel. Someone would end up getting beat up, and the fry would prob. get eaten.

Parrots would get to big, the snow white cichlids (guessing they are some sort of Albino mbuna) get to large, and the yellow labs would be pushing it in a 20gal. Since you won't just breed with a pair....you would need a breeding group 1m/2f+.

no no no im not keeping the convict in there.. i just thought i could try the parrot with the con as i know they can breed... he wont be in the 20g with the africans..

im not concerned at how big they get.. i said in my original post its just an excuse to get a bigger tank...

so for africans.. i need to get a male and 2 females ?

scratch that..

there has been a miracle in the fish room..

the female convict was totally dry... covered in crap.. but just for fun i thought i would throw her in the betta breeding container.. no bettas in there anymore.. just had water and air pump in it..

anyways.. i go check on them now.. and SHE IS ALIVE..

i have no clue how.. but she is alive... when i left this morning .. i was 100% positive she was dead... i cannot believe she is still alive... VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT THO... this means i dont have to drive to the far lfs to get brichardi (i guess thats a good thing)

and another good thing..

MY KRIBS HAVE FRY..

the pair didnt seem interested in each other at all.. but out of nowhere today i notice about 30 or 40 fry... not sure if im gonna take daddy out or not... he did an alright job with his last spawn... he ripped the female up a bit, but raised the 3 surviving fry for a few months.. i might take him out...

only 1 of the betty fry ate today.. but i guess the kribs breeding and the revival of the convict is enough.. *laughingc
