24" compact lighting suggestions?

Have been given a Top Fin 55 gallon tank in great condition that has two 24" housings each with only a 15W daylight bulb.

Want to upgrade the lighting to at least "medium light", perhaps 3 watts (+) per gallon. The tank design is such that it will be easier to continue with 2 x 24" housings rather than try to convert to 1 x 48". Thinking about power compact flourescents.

Can anyone suggest some good manufacturers (on a reasonable budget!)

k, so you want 3+ watts per gallon on a 55....

4x55w pc is a good amount, and will run ya in the 100-180 neighborhood.

forget about manufacturers....just buy from a ma and pa shop that sells fish tank lights....save your money when buying name brand products that make a difference....
