25 gal is open

My 25 gal. will be open soon so i need ideas for stocking decorating etc......any ideas?

I'm looking for something new other than Convicts and the "usual" comman cichlids......it could become a community tank so...just post what you think. Every idea is welcome!

low light isn't very involved...high light is very involved. I love high light, but it is work....enjoyable work though! The one thing I love about rapid growth tanks is the dynamics of it all. As much as I like my fish, they are the same this week and next for the most part. Not that I think any less of my fish! THe fish are more at the moment with their dynamics..the plants are on a longer time scale.

idk i might do a small Mbuna colony.....not very big.

your severum are going to be stressed in the 55gal tank. maybe the 25gal could hold feeder fish and used to isolate an aggresive or injured severum from time to time.

thats true but i have heard most people do not feed Severums feeders. And i have about 3-5 sources saying i could put 2-3 Severums, 1 Blue Acara and 1 firemouth in a 55.

If not how many Seves can go into a 55 with 1 Firemouth, and 1 Blue Acara.

You could do a semi aggresive planted cyprinids tank like i have

Tiger barbs, sharks, and zebra/leopard(no long finned) danios

If you could afford one (and dont mind the maintenance) a breeding pair of discus could be nice

What about keyhole cichlids? maybe with some apistos or other dwarf cichlids...

Heh i would LOVE some discus but i really don't think i am expierenced enough to keep them.....they seem so hard to keep and i know NOTHING about a slatwater tank. although i wish i did. I will have to do some reading i guess.

Discus aren't really that hard - but they can be a bit of a bear...

Young - small ones need lots of food, and near perfect water conditions to grow big and round. And they are a bit susceptible to parasitic infections (which aren't hard to deal with). In other words for the first year or better big water changes every day (I'm doing 2 20g changes a day on my 55 - looking for a way to do more) And LOTS of food and variety.

Full grown fish - are more tollerant of water conditions. Still need lots of food and a variety of foods.

Saltwater isn't that hard - just very different, things work much differently; you need to 'forget' FW habits when dealing with SW. To a certain extent anyway...

I think a barb tank would be pretty cool - having a few different schools.

How about rainbowfish and some other small fish like rasboras....maybe a pictus?

Angelfish and/or glass catfish and some more small schooling fish?
