Hello all, I was just given a 250 gallon tank. The biggest I've ever had in the past was a 90 and a bunch of 55's and 30's before that. It seems that this is putting me in a new league. I am building the tank into my kitchen/bar in the basement and I am trying to decide what kind of filters to buy. I have been looking at the Red Torpedo's but really know nothing about them. In the past I have had under gravels with power heads and one or two filters hanging off the back of the tank but for this one I think a canister would be better. Any ideas or suggestions?

What you get is not as important as how much in moves water through it...at 220G you will need a minimum of 1540 GPH (Gallons Per Hour), However depending on the bio load, you may want more. That number is 7x the tank capacity, I always over filter at about 10X. I would always use two different filters for redundancy purposes. If one fails, you always have the other one doing it's thing until you repair the broken one.
