Hey everyone. Yesterday afternoon I picked up 3 small kribs. They're about 1" or maybe a little longer. My first cichlids! I love em - so playful. Seem to be doing fine in my 10g.

I will find some more rocks and build more caves for them. Still haven't decided if I'm going to shuffle things around and put them in the 29 eventually or keep the 10g a species only tank. We'll see. Oh, should I feed them anything different than the food I have now? I have freeze-dried brine shrimp and Tetracolor flakes. Thanks.

EDIT: scroll down for pics.

congrats fuigzel!
Your kribs will be fine in the 10 gallon while they are still small and not sexually mature. If it turns out you have a breeding pair you will have to remove the third krib (regardless of its sex). My pair bred successfully in a 10 gallon though you do need to keep an eye on their behaviour when they do spawn as sometimes they dont get along all the time in a small tank, but play it by ear.
Do you know what sex they are? Would love to see some photos. :)

Maybe you guys can help me with figuring out the sex of these guys. Two of them hang out together a lot, and they all like darting from one cave to another. My wife really likes watching them.

Here's a few pics. The coloring is different in some shots cause I was using the flash at ISO200, then no flash at ISO1600, etc.

Thanks for all the compliments, guys and gals. They seem to be acclimated just fine. Already showing territorial signs. One of the kribs darts back and forth from one cave to the other, while the other two seem to be hanging out in "hiding places". One up by the HOB filter and the other over by the heater.

Last night I was netting out some of the broken off hornwort peices that lay on the gravel, and the whole damn plant started falling apart - so I took it out completely and put in a big ol' silk sword plant we had. The two "banished" kribs like to hide out in that big plant now which is cool.

Today I fed them for just the second time: a very small amount of crushed flakes. They all came out and ate well. I'll take that as a good sign.

Here's a few more pics. Click to enlarge.

Hey guys.. do the fins on those kribs look okay? I just noticed in the first and last pics that the tail fin looks nipped. Think that's from the one that hangs on the bottom nipping?
