30 gl. cichlid tank set up?

I have moved my community tank to a new location and want to start a cichlid tank,I have already purchased its first occupant a baby convict,and left a rhino pleco from the community set up in there for company, where should I go from here? And how many? Who else would be good tank mates for my convict?

i would probably go with a pair of convicts and call it a day.

in a 30 gallon tank you will notice quite a bit of aggression from your convict, and tankmates would be difficult.

someone else may have an idea though, im tired currently

Well I'd get another convict if you have one already. You have 2 options. Get one of the other sex or have 2 females. How big is this one now? You would have to wait to sex it but....you could go ahead and get one and then determine the sexes of both.

I have a female convict with some zebra danios. At times, she gets mildly annoyed with the danios. But nothing serious comes of her aggression. She'll chase for a second then lose interest.

I agree with mana and CM about another opposite sex convict. However, ask CM about his experiences with paired off convicts....

If you get a pair......you get babies. Without trying, just be aware.

The only reason Danios could live with A convict (2 might kinda team up and get them) is because they are fast. Good dither fish

Yeah, man. Sometimes I swear I can hear the danios laughing at the convict....

Anything slower would be toast....
