My mother-in-law wants me to put in a Koi(maybe not koi but other fish as well) pond in her back yard. Nothing big, maybe 10-15 ft diameter and about 3 - 3 1/2 ft deep. I've been looking for for filters and things for a project like this. Anyone have any information that might help. As of right now I am going to treat it as a big freshwater tank and do a fishless cycle. If there is more to it----I would appreciate if someone could point it out.

I apoligize if this is not a good place to put this thread but i could not find a better place.

I'll let everyone know how it goes and i'll post some pics as well. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filtration needs are going to depend on the placement of your pond (shade, sun, etc...).

I myself resort to the DIY method of filtration when it comes to ponds. I make filters from powerheads or pumps, PVC or flexible tubing, lava rock, large Aqua Clear filter sponges and small to medium rubbermade containers. You can make a very efficient and servicable filter this way and save lots of $$$.
