40 gallon tall

#1
I've put a bid in for my boss's 40 gal tall tank w/ and Eclipse hood. I'm pretty sure I'll get it. Right now there's two giant danios, three red-eye tetras, one back widow tetra and a huge red-tailed shark. I'm going to give away everything other than shark. Do you think she'd play well with some angels since the tank would be perfect for them?

Um...a shark in a tall tank? I don't know about that one, thought they liked being near the bottom and there isn't as much bottom space in a tall tank. I do agree with getting rid of the others and that the Angelfish would be perfect in it! :) Just the shark in a tall tank kinda threw up a red flag for me.

I wouldn't put the shark in that kind of tank. However if you do keep it then it will be fine with the angels as long as the angels don't nip at the shark.

Our sharks aren't the aggressive ones, its the angel's you have to look out for lol.

A 4" shark is far from HUGE though.. I'd say our small one is that big and the bigger one is about 6" right now.. However they aren't red-tailed if that makes a difference...

yeah i wouldnt worry about the shark to much...just keep an eye out for problems between the shark and the angel(s)....shouldnt be too bad tho since they occupy different parts of the tank

as far as i know redtailed sharks do not get over 6" as a rule...balas and columbians are the ones that get a foot or more i think

i'd try the angels and see how it goes maybe put some kind of schoolers in there as a distraction cuz both angels and rts can be aggressive

good luck whatever you decide*thumbsups

Seen as though in "what fish am I?" I was just a red tailed shark I can tell you a little about them! There max size is usually 4.7" no more than 5". There agression grows with age, until they can not tolorate smaller fish and will be agressive to others. Fish fragile like angels should not be kept with a RTS. RTS's should only be kept with larger fish.
Maybe yours is doing okay seen as though it is in with a variety of tetras, but it could also be young and isnt fully agressive yet. You could probably have a wider choice in fish if you minused the shark. Good luck with whatever you do =)
