It's tougher with the 5 gal as the betta or shrimp/ dwarf frogs would be the only good candidates there. Thats what i think. other members should try and fix my opinion if they think it fit.

The ten gallon can give you more options in terms of actual fish, but then again youre still limited to small fish the size of guppies and neon tetras.

Other recommendations for the ten gal include:
Snails
Platy
Pigmy cory
Peppered cory
Zebra Danios
The smaller Barb species
Oto's (otocinclus)
The smaller Tetra species

You want to avoid getting fish that reach an adult size of more than 1-2 inches.

I hope i helped somehow :)

Dont think sticking them in a 10 gal is the best. Also (many people say) is this okay... because I am moving up in tank size soon.. But they really dont. A side note is that "30 gal" needs to be cycled before adding fish to it. And cycled correctly *thumbsups

You should get endlers! they grow only about 1 or 2 inches and are the cousin of guppies, and are easy to breed. The only problem is they are a wee bit hard to find in stores. Oh, and for the 5 gallon, I would only reccomend getting dwarf frogs or shrimp... maybe a betta ;)
OR if your betta is in a smaller tank you could move him into the 5g and perhaps add a dwarf frog.
Good luck :)

I'd say about 1-2 goldfish for the 30 gal and about 5 for the 55. it also depends on WHAT TYPE of goldfish it is. fancies can have less room as opposed to commons and comets.
