5 gal too small i imagine

So, I am doing a fairly dramatic reshuffling of tanks here and I was wondering if I could put a pearl gourami in a 5 gal or if that is really going to cramp him...my gut tells me its too small but i figured if i cant turn to the sage advice of MFTers who can I turn to...

way too small Honestly, they don't belong in anything under a 15-20.

I agree with leopardess. Did you have your heart set on a pearl gourami, or could you use a dwarf instead? (still may be a little small though).

a 5g would still probably be too small for a dwarf...

some keep reg. dwarves in a 5g too... not too much space, but they aren't that active as is, like a betta. Most labrynth fish are pretty mellow...

lol...ive already got the gourami, hes in the 29 which is getting turned into the argentina biotope...trying to figure out what to do with him

i honestly looked into 55s for my biotope but i just handle it...better to not get more than i can afford/maintain

I have 14 tanks, I spent less than $100.00 on ALL of them combined. Trust me, there are tanks out there, sitting in your neighbor's garage or basement gathering dust. Put word out, check your local bargain finder ads, its not that hard to find another tank, often for free if you need one. Money is not that relavant, but then again, if you have no space for a tank, and no time to set it up, see if your LFS will take the Pearl in for trade or credit.
