5g hoods are actually pretty easy to find. Maybe it's just your LPS. Have a look:

Also watch on aquabid for them - regularly sold there.
If you're willing / able to DIY - there's always the options from ahsupply (http://www.ahsupply.com ).
Glass tops should be easy to find at your local pet store/fish store, if not they're cheaply obtained from a glass shop.
5g's aren't a non-standard size, just an often forgotten when ordering size. Look around a little more you'll find something.
