I am redoing my 5 gallon freshwater aquarium this upcoming Saturday. I have the gravel, its a brown looking mixture. I also have my Decoration, half a sunken ship. I will be moving my 2 peppered cory's out of my 10 gallon into the 5 gallon once it's cycled, and i havent decided what else id like to add. The fish i have in mind are Betta's, Gourami's, or Kuhli loach's. In the mix im adding 2 ghost shrimp as a lil something new. I only want either 1 male betta, a pair of a small gourami { i absolutly adore the Red dwarfs :) } or 3 Kuhli loach's. The tank has a Aqua Tech 5-15 filter in it (15 gallon filter as aqua advisor says) and another small power filter in it. I also would like to know how to plant it for i have at lease 8 medium-Large Fake plants. Also, could i save a tiny bit of the Brown crap outta the filter to make it cycle quickly? ive heard that will work, because Amonia cycling is a pain in the rear end  thanks in advance to all answer's. i will post pictures of it setup once i rearange the stuff saturday :)

I have a 5 gallon hex with a male betta and a snail for algae. I might add some ghost shrimp once I plant it, but I'm guessing yours isn't as tall as mine, so I'd go with a male betta, a cool snail and maybe you could get like 8 ghost shrimp because they are really cheap and have almost no bioload. It sounds kind of boring, but you could decorate it really cool and maybe make like a low light planted tank, because I know low lights kind of bring out my betta's colors. Just an Idea! :)

No. No multiple females in a tank that small. Only do that if you want dead fish. Seriously.

Dwarf cories need more swimming space than you'd think. They're active little fish. You could do an ADF (African Dwarf Frog), but that's all you could do in there.

I would think a Dwarf Gourami would work if you didn't want to go the Betta route. A cool trumpet snail, maybe a cool cherry shrimp or ADF. And add some java moss (low light ground cover plant) for the bottom, and perhaps some bamboo or some other not too leafy plant for the middle.
