5 gallon

theres a 5 gallon tank at my local fish store it acrilic and its rounded. it comes with a hood and light and it also comes with a power head. its 30 dollars is this a good deal i think it is. and its a cube shape

sounds like a good deal... it sorta depends on if you want to go reef or not.

lighting. what kind of lighting does it have? if you've done any research you should have noticed that to maintain a reef you need some good lights. its still a pretty good deal either way to me, but you'll most likely need to upgrade lights unless it comes with some darn good ones.

w00+ i bet you'll be a lot happier with the 40. cant wait untill you atart setting up. i definitely want to do a larger tank soon. what brand cube are you getting?

oh the guy at the lfs. i might go to a 55 but i really like the 40 cube. the cube look is cool i like it. but it costs the same as the 55 because the rounded glass on the cube 40. im probably not going to go nano lol but im excited for xmas so i ca get monney for it.

he was telling me that i needed a filter. it ran on mud? that really confused me.

but it was $209.99 or $229.99 and it had a protien skimmer is that a good deal?

so the cube comes with a skimmer? does it come with anything else? i have heard of the mud filters... i think the mud filters are like an outside DSB so you dont have to have one in the main tank.

no the mud filter is a combo with the protien skimmer. the smaller one is 210 dollars and the bigger one is 20 dollars more thats just the filter\skimmer(or whatever you wanna call it). and the 40 gallon tank is $450 or so with it. i didn't check the 55.

hmmm... sounds like you'd be better off getting the cube separate (if you can) and buying something that you know. i have never seen the skimmer mud filter thing before.
