I think I've decided on my future 55 gal setup...made to model the tank on this link :)

I've tentatively decided to go with a single Black Belt Cichlid (no possible tankmates correct?)
Penguin 170 Power Filter
Maybe a Canister Filter -- recommend?
Sand substrate
Lots of driftwood/bogwood - attached Java Fern and Anubias Nana
Various sizes of rock
Floating Hornwort
DIY CO2

Any experience or tips with keeping this fish in a similar setup?

Thanks ;)

thats a pretty nice tank.

Right i wouldn't go with any other tankmates. But i'd just to warn you. Most average 55gal sizes (at least in the US) come in only 13" wide. This is gonna be a 12" fish you are gonna have. Its sure gonna have a problem turning around especially with all that "stuff" in the tank.

I think a HOB filter and a canister is a good combo for a 55gal.
