I have lots of time to think of this but i guess i just wanted to see what yall thought of some ideas for a 55 gal im in the process of building a hood and stand for.

I was thinking a heavily planted tank with a community of endler's and neons, and zebras, along with shrimp a few dwarf frogs, and some nice big apple snails.

--OR--

a knife fish or Oscars with a big ol' Pleco.

--OR--

a cilichid tank, with lots of slate rock

--OR--

Lots of work but a river tank would be lots of fun.

I'd do the community or the cichlid tank depending on what kinda water you got coming out of the tap. The only thing I would suggest though would be a school of rainbows along w/ or instead of the zebras in tank #1.

A river tank would be sweet but I don't think a standard 55 is tall enough to do it right. I think it would be the best with a 2ft+ high tank. That way you have a pauladium (sp?) effect.

Well, I'm a little partial because i'm cycling my 55g cichlid tank right now. But, I think that's the option you should go with. If you get african cichlids you can have great colors to go along with their interesting behavior.
