 New to this and have a 55 gallon that I am wanting to grow plants in. i currently have a fixture for 2-24inch bulbs but all I can find is 20 watt bulbs in that size. Not even close to what I need..(2-4 watts per gallon right?) Is there anywhere that I can find a higher wattage(sp?) bulb for my system?
Thanks group

Lighting, in general, is very expensive.

It will really depend on what lighting you have (how many watts) and what kind of plants you want to grow.

Some people have used a "shop light" fixture for 55g tanks, but you may need to either build a hood or suspend the fixture over the tank. They're not designed to be used in damp applications, so you do need to have a glass top for the tank or have the fixture far enough away from the water.

i clicked on your sig and looked at the 55 gallon you have. What kind of light system is that you have lotus? How much would it cost to buy one like that.

Thanks
