55 gallon or a 33 long gallon?

I heard a 55 gallon and a 33 longhave the same surface for the top, which means i could fit the same amount of fish in both tanks!! Which tank should i get?

For plants, the 33, it will be shorter, so you don't need as much light to grow light intense plants.

I don't think you could get as many fish in a 33 as you can in a 55 gallon. You have less volume, so the fish population would be more dense, which could cause problems. I agree though with pooky. Get the 33 if you want to do plants. If you're more interested in fish, then get the 55 gallon.

Well I like to stick by my motto " the bigger the better".

Bigger is better but costs more $$$ and requires more time. You can do alot with a 33 Gallon tank. The old adage is one inch of fish per one gallon of water. Although I am getting away with alot more with URL=http://www.millevolte.com/aquarium1.html]this tank[/URL]

I don't know if I agree. A 50 gal has more surface area then a 55. I think the 50 would be a better choice in a tank then the 55 would be. The 50 will cost a bit more because it's not as common though.

Surface area rules for fish stocking calculations, but acually I'm sure you could get a little bit more in a 55 as there's more water and 'solution is the cure to pollution'. For plants the 33 is easier.
