55g. Filteration is it good?

yo i have a 55 gallon feshwater fishtank

the type of filters that i have on are:

emperor 400
H.O.T Magnum canister filter
undergravel with and 802 powerhead

the guy i bought the canister from said to turn it on once every month is that true?

Sounds like more than enough filtration.

Far as the canister, can't help you there, don't have any of them.  Sounds logical tho.

What do you have / want to have in there?

If there are going to be live plants - that UGF is a no go.  The Emp 400 good GPH and BioWheels, add that to the Magnum and you are good to go.   I say ditch the UGF.  More trouble that it's worth - being that you already have the other two.

Yep, ditch the UGF and run the other 2 24/7. No point in having a cannister if it's not being used. After a month all it will do is polish the water. No good biobugs will be in there at all without waterflow.
