75 Gallon Tank ..Heater??

I am just curious...I'm looking online at heaters at PetSmart..I'm going there tomorrow to get a few things, but what do I need for a 75 gallon tank. Should I just get one heater or two, one for each side? And what watts?? I'm having trouble finding what I need.

Two heaters are generally better in larger tanks like yours. I think two 150 watt heaters will cover your needs.

I second what Lotus has to say. Two heaters warm the water more evenly. plus in case one break you have another one running until you can run to the store and get another.

I was reading on another forum to buy two slightly underpowered heaters instead of one large heater. The reason for this is just in case one screws up and stays on it wouldn't be powerful enough to fry your fish. Wish I would have figured this out a year ago...could have saved a few fish.
