that little guy is actually the other bala. Both are about 10"! I've had this tank going for about 2 years now.

(2) JD - 8" & 5"
(1) GT - 8"
(1) Firemouth - 6"
(2) Balas - 10" each
(21) Tiger Barbs

I really like this setup. I'm thinking of adding even more tiger barbs because I like them so much!

Those are the biggest balas I've ever seen. Makes you wonder about people who get them for 20g tanks...

Have you ever seen spanner T barbs? I think they have other names too... anyways, they get up quite a bit bigger than the tigers, to 5-6" maybe. Might go well in that tank.

The balas are pretty cool personality wise. They play together alot, nipping each other and rubing up against one another. They pretty much always stay together. Cichlids have never bothered them. The only time they get real skittish is when I'm cleaning the tank. I had the lid off once and I swear one of the balas leaped a good 2 feet out of the water. Scared the crap out of me!
It was like a freakin mullet jumping!

The Pacu in the picture I posted soaked me down entirely when I picked him up out of the 29 gallon he was in. The poor fish barley fit into the bucket I had him in. I got word that there was a good size pacu and he was in a 29 gallon tank. I assumed no idiot would have that big of a fish in that small of an area, but you can never assume in this world!
