I just rinsed mine.  I have most of my plants in clay pots.  Had no problems when I put them in.  I used a layer of floss, laterite and some lava rocks to anchor the plants.  I actually removed the last of my silk/plastic plants the other day.

Is it terracotta or clay??? I havn't had good luck with the clay pots myself but the terracotta worked good. Good luck. I would say just do as instructed above wash good and then boil if it makes you feel any better. Good luck. ;D ;) 8)

Remember to take the price tag barcode thing off the bottom.

I saw mine floating around the tank about a half hour after I put the pot in. heheh. oops.   One fish says to another "price check in tank #2"  hehe :D

other than that I just gave my pots a good rinse with warm water.   actually I didn't use mine for plants.  I smashed out the bottom , so the fish could swim through them.  makes good for breeding/qtank hiding places.
