OK so ive been in the process of getting eqiptment for my 240 for about 6 months now spending thousands.....and now ive changed my mind.....marine still scares me..... lol

So im gonna go with African Cichlids. :) Theyre bootifull and I ll have lots of space for them to strut there stuff....anyhoo.....will metal halides be ok with them I figure yup as they simulate natrual sunlight. Also what is a good agfrican cichlid per gallon ratio?

Cheers!!!

Wow! Metal halides are pretty bright just for cichlids and no plants! The problem may be algae growth. I would recommend keeping the lighting to a minimum, perhaps around 1wpg otherwise you will constantly be battling algae. You can get some decent fluorescents with good lighting. Metal halides also get off quite a bit a heat.
