How often should I feed him an algae wafer? I dropped in one last night and he literally had to fight the loaches and the ghost knife over it... I think he got most of it in the end, and there was no real biting or fighting, but it wasn't optimal. I'll try feeding him much later at night.

I kept him very temporarily in my baby Krib 10 gallon while I was dealing with a minor Ich outbreak in the big tank. I had a nice chunk of driftwood in there... the plec devoured at least a whole 1 mm layer off it, and his crap turned the tank into a turtle tank... I literally had replaced the filter cartridge a month ago, and he totally destroyed a brand new cartridge in the matter of less than 2 weeks.

So if you're thinking about getting one of these for a ten gallon, even if it's temporary... don't unless you want to water change every other day and change out filters twice a month.

How much you feed depends on how big he is, but typically quite a lot. If it looks skinny and isn't growing you need to feed more. Pretty soon you won't be able to use algae wafers wither as they're too small, so you can get on to boiled veg.
