acrylic tank

i've been comparing prices a bit today and shipping....

Glasscages has a 72x24x17 for $300
$40 Shipping if i can pick it up at the show they are going to 2 Hours away from me. Which would be ok IF i can make it since my main supplier is in the same city and i could pick up some fishys for other tanks at the same time.
-or-
$100 Shipping to the Freight Terminal 1 Hour away.
No Residential Shipment.

I also Checked with
Midwest Custom Aquarium today...
and they have the following $180 shipment to nearest Freight Terminal or $40 extra for residential.

$560 for 48x24x24
$800 for 72x24x17 (Built with 1/2")

well choice 1 with MCA wouldnt work since i know i NEED 6 feet :D the 6 footer im putting in consideration.

then we have all these ebay folks selling at not bad prices at all, which all seem to be pre-drilled (this might sound crazy but i dont really want a pre-drilled for this one unless i got 180G+)

the thing with the ebay ones is i havent heard anything about them on forums and fellow fish keppers, yes they have good feedback but that doesnt mean the tank will be taking a crap down the road.

Glasscages and MCA i've heard real good things about.

Does anyone have a idea how heavy a 125G Acrylic empty is in lbs?
or perhaps a 180G?

There is a beauty on ebay! 252 Gallon, but its 8 foot and i dont have that space or ability to privde a stand to cover the entire bottom. So thats on HOLD till i move and get a new show tank, just need a fishroom tank thats big! nto these 55 gallon ones :(

LOL

One suggestion is to ask your LFS if they can order something for you. It doesn't hurt to ask (if you haven't already). I know our store will look on their supplier sheets and see what they can get in.

I've read some negative comments about Glass cages, but if you go to the show, and it's not up to your standards, you could reject it. Of course, if you have it delivered, you have a whole host of problems and costs getting it returned. As far as I know, larger tanks have to be crated to send them, and it's not cheap. That may be a problem on some of the eBay deals.

The other question is whether you have suitable transport for the tank. FYI, a 72" tank will fit in a long-bed Ford 150 with a little padding on either end.

yeah ive thought about the LFS and ill try to ask them but usually the prices are insane... and im sure they will tax some fees up on a acrylic tank.

transport shouldnt be a big problem, i already have a 125G glass....

the packaging on ebay deals, thats actually somethign i read ont heir feedbacks, customers are saying that the packaging was excellent...
the 180 gallon im looking at on ebay is $800 for the tanks and $180 shipping to my house, and also has good feedback for the order, but im gonan try to find out long-term feedback about some of those places. And like we all know Acrylic scratches very very very easy and fast! so thats where the courier problem would come in hand, if they arent real careful with it it could arrive here and i couldnt even see my fish through it LOL.... but i should be able to reject it if its to bad.

The one you linked to looks pretty good. You could always try to contact one of the previous buyers to see if they really did like it. I think the 1/2" would be a good thing, and add to the overall durability of the tank.

yeah i thought about that and prolly will try *BOUNCINGS
get ready for a wil caught colony of zaire fronts once i do get it *SUPERSMIL
