Currently in my 20 gallon I have 6 tiger barbs, 5 zebra danios, 3 otos and a 4 inch dojo. Everything is kind of the same color. Are there any fish that are blueish or whiteish that I could still add? I use a Penguin 170 for filtration and also have some water sprite and java moss in the tank. I was thinking maybe a paradise fish or some pearl danios. Would a paradise fish get along with the tiger barbs?

Now with the mollies, I am really getting into livebearers having swordtails and guppies, and I've read mollies like and even need some salt. Is it necessary and will the current fish and plants be OK with a little salt? That's why I was hesitant on mentioning them before.

i think a good choice for color and compatibility would be neon or cardinal tetras. but i think your tank is stocked pretty heavily already. i wouldn't suggest it unless u want to trade some fish out @ your lfs.
good luck!

its a loach...they should be fine together...i think if you keep thats size a school of t barbs you would be fine to get a (one) gourami of your chosing as they will be so busy with each other they wont bug the gouramis...i have a pearl which i find to be delightful, however blues and golds are nice as are dwarfs and flame dwarfs...

Sounds to me like your tank is pretty well stocked right now. If you wanted to trade some of your current danios for pearl danios, they will school. Either that or get some colored mollies that you dont have :)

Mollies now that are tank raised don't usually have salt...they're usually freshwater (though you can ask your lfs) and don't necessarily "need" it. I added some for mine thinking that they needed it and it turns out to be more of a hassle than anything else. Once in awhile I'll throw some in, but if you have other fish that won't like the salt or plants that you don't think will do well with salt then I don't think its necessary.

You can get some nice varieties of Platys...Sunset Platys are beautiful (Yellow fading to red in the tail). IMHO they look just like most varieties of Mollies; they like some salt but not as much. Mollies will quickly get Ich without substantial salt. Platys are very active and have great dispositions.

I had a catastrophe adding salt to a planted tank. The plants quickly deteriorated, the toxins stressed the fish. I didn't know what was going on, so I added more salt to help the fish stress, just ended up killing off the plants. I would not combine fish that like Brackish water (Mollies) with plants.

Opaline gourami's are very pretty. They are a kind of white with a slight blue iridescence. Of course you can really only keep one (males will fight with eachother, and that's usually what the LFS sell). They are one of those fish that never look that nice in the store, but once you get them home and keep them happy, their colors really come out.

Personally, I would go for something in the red/yellow coloring. Serpae tetras are another nippy little fish, and are a kind of transparent orangey red color. I think they would hold their own with the barbs. Sunset platies are cute too, with lovely colors.

The dojo loach won't bother anyone :)

I moved everything out of the 20 except for the Tiger Barbs into a 15 gallon. So now it's just the 6 Tigers So I was thinking a single Opaline Gourmai and maybe a Rainbow Shark, possibly an albino one. If you all think the Rainbow Shark would get too big what's another good semi-aggressive bottom feeder?
