Adjusting 48" reflector

I'm cutting down my 48" reflector so I can fit it in my 36" canopy. Will the MH bulbs be too close together? I will also drill new holes for 36" vho bulbs. Thoughts?

Idk if you said this in some other thread that I missed, but what type of MH do you have and how many? In my 36" canopy, i only have a 250w MH. Drilling holes in the reflector should be easy and not a problem, depending on what type of relefctor it is. If it's a simple reflector it shouldnt be a problen.

I have 2 250 mogul type MH. I would like to use them both if I could. Would it be overkill?

depends on what ur putting in the tank. 2 250w together isnt bad. 2 X250 w does seem a little overkill, but how tall is your tank? If its more than 2 feet it shouldn be that bad, you will have awesome penetration.

this tank is deeper than my last one. I think it's 24" deep and I would like to have a clam this time around IF I have room. my vho lights are actinic bulb only. I'm curious to what kind of heat problems i'm going to have too.

With heat it's hard to tell. i thought i was going to need a chiller, but when my MH is on, sometimes both heaters kick in! So its hard to tell. With 500w of power, given you have good ventilation and are max 1' off the water. IMO you should be ok, but no guarantees.

It's on my list of tests to do before any live stock goes in. I plan on putting in a PC fan or two just in case.
