Advice needed

Hello everyone

I need some advice. At present i am using a HOB filter on my 55 gallon and i was wondering if canister filters are better then HOB filters. I am thinking of buying a canister filter but am not sure because they cost so much. Which one would you recommened?

I would recommend the cannister filter because a 55 gallon is on the larger side of tank volume. My bro just got a cannister filter and his water is crystal clear, with his parameters perfect. He has a Marineland Magnum 350. Good luck!

A canister filter is definitely a good idea. We often run both a HOB and a canister on tanks that size to help with flow and mechanical cleaning.

I've noticed that for every question about which filter is best, you'll get a lot of different answers... everyone has their personal favorite.
