We had 10 African Lampeyes in a very small tank. They were our 20x20x20cm tank starters. A very small tank but very small and hearty fish. Recently, we've noticed that we only have 9 left. One vanished. Completely vanished. We have no idea where it went and why. Any ideas?

Also, any suggestions as to what the best food is to feed Lampeyes is? They seem eager to eat foods such as worms and some powdered foods.

It may have died and been eaten by its tankmates. It may also have jumped out of the tank... did you check around the tank and inside the filter?

I would advise you to get a bigger tank as soon as possible, yours is only 8 liters/2 US gallons.

I'm not sure which lampeye you have. Did you get a positive ID on it? This might be it: http://thatfishshop.com/findex/fish/lamprichthys_tanganicanus.htm
