I have a pleco that I have yet to identify, although it is similar to some of the leopard-spotted specimens I've seen. Anyway, he is about 4" long now and has become a real prick.
His home is a 29g decorated with driftwood, lots of greenery and plenty of caves/hiding spaces. His tankmates include:
1 Firemouth
1 Rosy barb
4 Tiger barbs
1 Pictus cat
My main cause of concern is the pictus. He is not a liked lil fish. The firemouth does the gill-flaring and chases him around the tank sometimes (this is the only fish he displays this behavior towards.) What gets me is the pleco downright attacks him! I'm not sure what damage the plec can do by suckin' on him but he does it anyway.
This mean suckerfish will also chase off the firemouth if he's in a foul enough mood. *twirlysmi
I've just never heard of a pleco attacking other fish before. Other than the bad attitude, he's a really cool fish. He's a bit of a chameleon and will change his pattern depending on his immediate surroundings. Fits the tank perfectly.
