Albino Kribs about to breed!!!!

Ok yesterday i cleaned the 10G out(the one that the keyholes were in) and added some more gravel, a floating plant, and a cave. Then i moved the 2 Albino kribs in there and within the first 5-10min the male claimed the cave as his, and started cleaning the roof and picking up gravel and moving it!!!!*celebrate *celebrate I can't wait to see little albino fry swimming around!!

I hope so too!!!!!! Its so cool to see the male make a bed for his kids and the female move the plant around! After they breed i am going to breed my other kribs.

Well i know that How long does it take for the eggs to hatch and for the fry to start swimming???

3-8 days to hatch
5-10 days for free swimming

My dad just called and said that the females stomach is really pink!!!

Is there a chance that the male might attack the female??? I am wondering so i can prevent that from happening.

Male getting aggresive??

My male is getting alittle agressive toward the female. He lets her near the cave but not in it? Could it be that there are eggs/fry in the cave or is the male not attracted to her anymore????

Maybe they were never really "about" to breed? Picking and cleaning at something does not always mean eggs are coming....maybe it was just grazing.

Like in most if not all cichlid relationships...there is aggression.

Hm..... they've always been nice to each other, and just the other day the male was letting her in the cave. Should i take her out and try one of my non-albino females??

hummm..mabye you should take a sneak peek inside the cave?
I wouldnt take out the female just yet, the male may be guarding eggs but im not sure.

Well i have been sick the past 5 days and have been doing reserch on there behaivor when breeding but nothing has come up. I am going to do some more research and i might take alook inside the cave.

Ok what i decided to do is take one of the non-albino females and put in the tank with the male and female. What i am hoping will happen is that the females will start to compete for the male and then once he chose his "women"p) i will take the unpaired female out and try to pair her up with the other 2 males i have. All together i have 3 males and 3 females.
