Hey guys. I have the Magnum 350 canister with bio wheel. If you have seen the Magnum, you know that the tubes are clear. Well, mine aren't very clear any more. I have algae growing in them and lots of it. Is there any way to get this out of these long tubes? Or should I not worry about it? *crazysmiley*

You can take the tubes and soak them in hot water, make sure it is steaming, then leave them be for a few min. and then come back with cold water, a brush, and a strong lenght of string/twine. Tie the peice of string to the end of the brush, run some cold water through the tube. Then pull the brush through the tube by using the string.  With me experence, putting algae in hot water breaks it down somewhat. Then when it gets moved into the cold water, it all came right off. It may take you a few swipes but that should work. *thumbsupsmiley*

You have 30 foot filter hoses?

you know there is a very easy way to clean canister hoses. I am suprised Luvfishies hasn't replied yet, as she showed me how to do it

Hagen (fluval) makes a wonderful little brush with a long plastic flexible "stem" about 4 feet long, you shove the little brush into the tube and then shove the plastic "stem" as far as it can go, which is about 3 feet,   pull it out, rinse it, and do it again from the other end of the hose   assuming your hose is actually 6 feet, and not 30 feet, you will be fine

after this put a bit of water in the hose,  close off each end with your thumbs,  and shake it back and forth violently.   Empty it out, and presto !  brand new shiny clean hoses

you don't have to worry about losing bacteria by cleaning your hoses.... if you are concerned,  just clean out your *output* hose, the *input* ones are not as critical
