Algae outbreak

I have had a recent outbreak of algae. Are there any fish that I should get to help with this. It has sent my ph levels through the roof. How do I handle the algae and keep my tank looking nice and bright?

How long has the tank been set up? What kind of algae is it? What are your parameters?

The tank is in its 5th week. I dont know what kind of algae. My ph is around 9

Do you have readings for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, KH and phosphates? Can you describe the algae? Color, slimey or fuzzy, where in the tank it is, etc?

It is greenish brown and it is on the rock and the glass. It is a fuzzy algae. I dont have any reading for any of those.

Is it the tank in your other thread? (http://www.myfishtank.net/forum/saltwater-general-discussion/44771-new-tank-tips.html) If so, it's only 16 days old, not five weeks. It's really important that you test your parameters, as otherwise, you'll have no idea what's happening in your tank or why, and it will be hard for us to answer your questions.

Algae is pretty common in such a young tank, but without knowing the parameters it's hard to tell. Is your tank cycling still?
