Hey what is the best way to deal with extensive algae in a 10g crayfish only tank? I read some of the algae remover bottles and they say not to use them with invertabrates. I thought about snails, but I wasn't sure if they'd be eaten. Any suggestions?

test your water quality... algae is sign of too much light... or too many nutrients. If this is first time and tank has been around for a long time... then double check filter system. Algae thrives on light and nutrition! you must control either or both!

Is tank over stocked with too many fish that are over producing too much nutrition that promotes algae growth?

Did you move this tank or allow for more light than before to reach it?

good luck

how many crays do you have? i also have a ton of algae in my 10 gallon cray tank, but i dont scrape it off cause im waiting for april POTM. you can use a razorblade to get it off if you want, but you still need to figure out why its there. what and how much are you feeding? whats the wattage on the lights? how long do you leave the lights on? what are your parameters?

I only have 1 cray in there. I have been feeding sinking wafers and rosy reds. The water is fine and the tank is in a dim location with about 8 hours of light on a timer. The tank is about 6 months old. The algae seems to be getting worse.
