The green/brown sounds like some other kind of algae, possibly cyanobacteria or possibly diatoms.

What are your nitrate and phosphate levels?

To get good coraline growth, make sure your calcium, alkalinity and magnesium levels are good, then give it some time, and it will grow. :)

you dont need purple up! all you need to do is regularly test your calcium and alkalinity ... in most cases you can replenish these trace elements through regular water changes but if you have alot of corals that consume it before you can get to a water change than you can add supplement as needed.... btw i was using 2-part Bionic but i ran out about 2-3 months ago and since havnt added nothing asided from doing my biweekly water changes and everything seems to be right where it needs to be and coraline is spreading everywhere ;) oh yea and if the algae isnt hard it isnt coraline :p

heres a article on calcium and alkalinity that may make u understand it better
