alk test

i bought this alk test the other day redsea i belive and it seems like such a waste every time i use this test i think its suposed to be yellow if too low and green if too high but it comes out this blueish color thats so watered down i cant even compare it the color chart... any ideas??how does everyone elses alk test work??? and what kind do you use??

What brand?

I use salifert and it's very easy to read because you do not have to compare colors.

whats it like the calcium test where so many drops will change it to a differant color??

You read the measurement on a syringe when the color changes from blue to pink. I use to have the tetra alk test and it was similar to what you described. I ended up raising the alk too much because of that test kit.

Tetra test is crap. I had them and just ordered all Salifert.

Tre is your alk test a strip test? mine is and i have the same problem. it comes out blue while the ranges are yellow and green.

im planing to switch to all drop tests or moniters (i got temp. and pH so far)

no its not test strips you just put 5 drops and shake

You shouldn't use test strips if you want a reliable test. I use Hagen for my CA, but will get salifert when I am done with it. That is the dkh test I use. I am in the process of going all salifert.

good to know since im in the process of trying to find a new alk aswess as cal...but i guess what i have now is better than nothing
