Ok, my situation. My fish tank was fine a few days ago. It contained.. 3 danios, 4 clown loaches, 2 silver dollars, 2 gouramis. (The gouramis I've had for over 3 years) Against my wishes, my father bought 2 plecos. Over the course of the next couple of days all the fish come down with Ich and start dying. I think my father bought infected plecos and they infected and killed the others. As of today, they all died except the 3 danios who show no signs of infection or illness. What's up with that?

ph is 6.4 .. No ammonia, nitrites, nitrates=5

Danios are hardy, I have never in my life seen one with ich. Maybe they just aren't as susceptible to ich or they weren't as stressed out by the addition of the new fish?

That has happened to me before i bought 2 bosemans rainbows, and the infected my whole tank and everthing died except my danios. They are still kicking (5 Zebra danios). SO i think you are right about the fish you dad got you because it happened to me as well. I was only wondering tank size for stoking issues but its seems to be fine to me. Sorry about your luck.

Im battling what i think is ick right now as well in my other tank.

Im not sure on the dying out part but i think you should still treat the tank with some sort of ick med. You dont want to add fish in a few weeks and have them die right away because you did not want to spend 3 bucks on ick med.

The ich will still be in the water... if you do the salt/heat method for 10 days, it should irradicate all the ich from the tank and you'll be good to go. Use the search on here to get the specifics on heat/salt if you want to use it.
