Hi there looking for a bit of advice regarding all in one tanks for reef aqauriums. I am looking to start my first reef aqaurium and feel that an all in one aquarium such as the red sea max complete reef aquarium might be the way to go but was wanderring what peoples views on this are. I appreciate this is a more expensive approach to take but i like the idea of all the equipment being housed seperately and invisible.

I am really looking for something smaller than 34 gallons but not entirely decided and not sure what other products are out there.

Look forward to hear from you.

Aquapod, Biocube, and Nanocubes all offer smaller tanks then 34gallons and are the all in one variety. I've never owned one, though hopefully will have an 8gal Biocube soon, but i just wanted to give you some other options.

The Red Sea Max i've heard is great, but at that price....i'm not so sure it'd be right for me personally. Most of these tanks are easily modded so twisting them to what you want shouldn't be to terribly difficult.

Ok thanks for the advice i heard that the aquapods had been recalled due to cracking within a few months. Is this just older models and the problem has now been fixed?

What sizes do the bio cubes come in and is there a good website where i can look at them?

Thanks

From what i understand that applies to the older models yes. I havn't heard of any problems with that lately...but that isn't saying it can't happen. Especially if you buy one off the shelf at the LFS...who knows how long its been there for sale, ya know?

AquaPod
-12 Gal
-24 Gal
NanoCube
-6 Gal
-12 Gal
-24 Gal
BioCube
-8 Gal
-14 Gal
-29 Gal

You gotta remember, this is total System gallons. The tank has a back wall that hides all the equipment so really you're only getting so much space for the tank/show side. Talking to someone who owns all 3, they said that the Aquapod and Biocube were noticably larger then the Nanocube, and that the Biocube looked the nicest.

All have their pluses and drawbacks, i think with any of the later models you should be fine and problem free. Any of these would be a nice tank to have.

You want to look at like tank info or actual finished tanks setup by someone?

Yeah that would be good. Thanks for all the advice. Everytime i think i am getting clost to seeing one i like i see another one that i think i like more.

I think i really need to get a better idea in my head of what i really want in my tank as apposed to getting it then decide what to put in it.

With a tank around 28 gal is that about right for 4-6 fish?

28g is probably not enough room for 6 fish, though it does depend on what fish you choose. I tend to keep stocking levels low, but I would say 4 small peaceful fish would be fine.

For example, I only have 6 fish in my 90 gallon...
