Hey I have a question I have been trying to find ANY info on but must not be looking in the right place or? I have seen this once before but dont remember where exactly now and have been considering doing this but want some input here..I have been thinking about making an ALL yellow lab tank and am just wondering IF it would be possible Pros and Cons would be nice. Would they get along more peacefully than say in a mixed tank, which I already have or would there still be much of the aggression even between just themselves? Anyone have any success or experience with this specific setup? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and concerns :)
One more thing, I do have a breeding pair right now producing successful living fry...

They'd get along just fine, maybe even better then a mixed tank. That is, if you keep the m/fm ratio right. (1male per 2-3 Females)

These are still Mbuna so the aggression won't stop by all means, but these do tend to be more peacful then other Mbuna.

I have a 29gal All lab tank, with 7 in there. No problem as of yet, tank has been running going on 2 years i believe. I am getting sucessful spawns out of them too.

An all lab tank can be the talk of the room too, lots of activity and yellow color is very eye catching.

A lfs near my parent's house has a 50 set up with a bunch of labs in it, it worked really well. There was some agression, and there of course was an established pecking order, but it seemed to really bring out the character in the fish. The fish in that tank were really smart, they would follow my finger on the glass and the like; for whatever reason I havn't seen labs (Or any Mbuna) do it since.

Well it has been 10 days now since I moved the mating pair w/2 fry yellow labs into a tank of their own. It has been interesting to watch and observe them...one thing Ive noticed, the fry, not being in a tank with other mbuna species, they are out alot more cruizing around the tank either together or alone. They do stay out of the adults way but there has been no aggression towards them either which is a good thing. Upon watching them closely last night I do believe the fry are male and female as well so Im hoping to have two breeding pair to muliply and fill this tank. How exciting!!! *thumbsups

Well, its been awhile now since I moved the breeding pair of labs and their 2 fry into their own tank and as of today the female is holding again so Id say they must be happy yes? Will be exciting to see how many fry survive this time and hopefully add to the tank!!

Wow just the other day I FINALLY saw a total of 5 new fry, however since these were born my lab female is already holding AGAIN! So as it stands now I have 8 in the tank total and they are really starting to stand out in there its an awesome thing to see and watch. Even the tiniest of babies swims all over the tank which is cool they dont hide all of the time.

That's really neat. My school has a big tank (not sure how big, gotta be 100g or so) with some mbuna and a few catfish (including a hoplo of some sort, yay!). All the mbuna are the same, so there's always a few fry swimming around. They are really cute. Baby fish always are :D
