im trying to decide what other cichlids would look good in there, and also not be to agressive because right now as it stands, there is NO agression at all, i guess its because those fish have been together for years and know the rules :p
but i want a few more aurutas and johanniis, maybe more labs too...would that be ok?

Woo hoo rocks! What size tank is it again?

Personally i'd trade the auratus out, possibly the johannii too. And depending on tank size, get something else.

I'd let it play out for a while before i did anything drastic. Do your water changes, keep up with the tank (no one knows exactly how the previous owner kept it so a change in upkeep might spark some fish behavior). Just see how it goes.

its a 56gal with fluval 304 filter, with crushed coral substrate. the rocks are actually lava rock, and the whitish looking ones are dead coral apparently. the guy i got it from said that the labs have bred a few times. but im definatly keeping the johannii, johanniiss are the mbuna that made me want mbunas, so i have to keep it lol, same with the auratus. i like the looks of the "longer" bodied mbuna (johanniis, auratus etc) at my LFS its 2 for 1 on the 15, and i can order in whatever i want, soo what should i order? PS the 2 for 1 goes on for like 2 weeks, so i wont be adding any new fish for at leaste a week or 2...so any ideas? but keep in mind, im keping the johannii and auratus...possibly getting more

Ah i see. The Melanochromis is typically the "badass Genus" of Mbuna. I was just thinking their high amount of aggression might not be good with the more "peaceful" mbuna like the labs. And even the peacock.

Oh and in the third picture down, the fish at center right looks like an Acei from here, but i'm just going by the dark body and yellow fins. So i'm not 100% sure.

So I see katie you finally got the tank. Congrats on that. The tank is looking really good. I really like the combination of rocks you have. In my 55 gallon I only have lava rocks. The white rock is I think is dead rock. You know live rock people pay 100's for reef tanks. I will be one of them soon. your's is apparently dead. Well I have to hand it to you. You Got the tank and its up and running and looking awesome. Enjoy!!!

thanks! im really pleased with it, but i just want to add a few more fish then it will be done. but i think i need some sort of algea eater, because on some of the white rocks there is lots of algea on it, so either i take the rocks out and scrub or get somethign to eat the algea...hmm...

I would suggest go get something that can eat the algae. I have been trying to get some green algae on the rock in my tank but nothing the only algae I have is BROWN horrible Algae. One question though might be kinda dumb but how big is the tank?

Everybody wishes for the 300 or more gallon tank. But if you think of it. Can you imagine all the work and money it needs. And a 60 gallon water change thats a lot. 6 to 7 canister filters and heaters. Well i would still want one but I am still happy with my 55 gallon tank, kinda..
